Latitude 66 Cobalt Oy (Lat66) on kaivostoimintaan tähtäävä malminetsintäyhtiö, joka tällä hetkellä kehittää kobolttikaivoksia Kuusamon Käylän ja Posion Maaninkavaaran alueilla. Yhtiöllä on merkittävät varausalueet koboltti- ja kultapotentiaalisilla vyöhykkeillä Kainuussa, Koillismaalla ja Lapissa. Yhtiön pääkonttori sijaitsee Oulussa ja geologisen työn toimipiste Kuusamossa. Lat66:n tavoitteena on tulla merkittäväksi koboltin tuottajaksi suomalaisille ja eurooppalaisille markkinoille. Yhtiö haluaa myös panostaa myönteisten suhteiden luomiseen ympäröivien yhteisöjen kanssa ja toimia esimerkillisesti ympäristönsuojeluun liittyvissä asioissa.

Etsimme nyt tiimiimme helmikuun 2020 alusta alkaen vakituiseen työsuhteeseen,

malminetsintägeologia.

Tulevat työtehtäväsi ovat hyvin monipuolisia malminetsinnän vaiheista riippuen. Työ sopii sinulle, jolla on malmietsintään liittyvistä tehtävistä noin 1-5 vuoden kokemus. Yhtiöllämme on Kuusamossa ja Posiolla aktiivista tutkimus- ja kairaustoimintaa kevättalvella 2020, jolloin geologimme työtehtävät ovat maastossa. Etsimme sinua, joka nautit kenttätyöstä ja suhtaudut geologiaan intohimoisesti.

Kenttätutkimusten ulkopuolella geologimme työskentelee yhtiön Oulun toimistolla. Olemme pieni yhtiö, ja geologillemme tarjoutuu mahdollisuus kartuttaa monipuolista kokemusta ja ottaa vastuuta heti uran alkuvaiheessa. Etsimme siis motivoitunutta henkilöä, jolla on halu oppia uutta ja nousta tärkeäksi osaksi tiimiämme.

Keskeiset vastuualueesi ovat:

• Hyvä yhteistyö ja viestintä sisäisten ja ulkoisten sidosryhmien kanssa (media, viranomaistahot, maanomistajat, urakoitsijat jne.)
• Erilaisten projektien hallinta, monipuolinen geologinen kenttätyöskentely ja raportointi
• Tehokas, turvallinen ja ajantasainen laadunvalvonta kaikissa työtehtävissä
• Geologisen tiedon monipuolinen hallinta ja tulkitseminen

Olet vahva kandidaatti, jos sinulla on:

• Geologin pätevyys ja olet kenttäkelpoinen
• Korkea työ-ja työturvallisuusetiikka
• Vahva geologinen osaaminen Suomen kallioperästä (malmi- ja rakennegeologia)
• B-ajokortti
• Hyvät tietotekniset valmiudet ja paikkatieto-ohjelmistojen käyttökokemusta
• Erinomaiset viestintä- ja ihmissuhdetaidot
• Osaamista malminetsinnän lupa-asioiden hoitamisesta
• Erinomainen suomen- ja englanninkielentaito
• Valmius matkustamiseen Pohjois-Suomessa

Muuta hyödyllistä, muttei välttämätöntä, osaamista:

• Geotieteellisten aineistojen hallinta QGIS ympäristössä
• Muu tietotekninen osaaminen (Leapfrog, Micromine etc.)
• Kokemusta esimiestehtävistä

Latitude 66 Cobalt Oy (Lat66) is a cobalt and gold focused mineral resource discovery and mining development company with project areas across the Karelia Province of northern Finland. Lat66 is headquartered in the city of Oulu with a regional base of operations located in Kuusamo.

We are currently seeking an

Exploration Geologist

to join the Lat66 exploration team on a full-time basis from the beginning of February 2020. The role will be varied and dynamic depending on the timing and stages of exploration field work. It is suited to somebody with between 1 – 5 years of industry experience. Initially the Exploration Geologist will be mainly field-based during Lat66’s winter-spring drilling campaigns and therefore require a person with a comfort for hands-on work and a genuine passion for geology and field exploration. Following the drilling campaigns and between field seasons, the Exploration Geologist will take on desktop-based exploration tasks at the company office in Oulu.

Being a small company, there is good opportunity for the right person to earn responsibility and acquire a great deal of varied experience early in their career. We look for someone strongly motivated with a drive to learn, excel and form an integral part of our team.

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Effective communication and leadership of Junior Geologists, Student Geologists and contractors
• Supervision of drilling programmes, contributing to the efficient running of operations
• High quality geological and structural logging of drill core
• Ensuring QAQC sampling protocols are maintained
• Ensure that drill core/geological data is collected efficiently, and delivered to supervisor
• Contribute to geological interpretations of ore deposits, producing detailed sections and plans
• Assist in the generation, ranking and testing of new and existing targets
• Contribute to company and statutory reports and presentations where required
• Commitment to working safely and the promotion of safe working practices with colleagues and contractors
• Assisting in the management of exploration activity site rehabilitation and environmental monitoring
• Map making and drafting of images using GIS software for reports, presentations and public releases
• Assistance with management of landowner data

The successful candidate will possess:

• BSc (or higher) degree in Geology, with a demonstrated high-level of geological understanding
• A strong work ethic and aspirations to excel in the field of mineral exploration and discovery
• 1-5 years’ experience in mineral exploration or mining industry, working with drill rigs
• A respectful nature, with an appreciation for the environment and communities local to our projects
• Excellent verbal and written English, fluency in verbal and written Finnish
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Word and GIS
• Manual driving license & Finnish citizenship
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

It would be advantageous for the candidate to also possess:

• A current first-aid certification
• Proficiency in QGIS
• Residence in Oulu or a willingness to relocate
• Confidence in public speaking
